Curses! I notice that a number of you have foiled my attempts at world domination already, defusing the ultra-powerful bombs I have planted in your precious color Alpha cluster. I admire your skill, and I will have to hire better engineers to design my next bomb. Would any of you like to join the dark side, working at my side to conquer and crush the world of the color cluster? For those of you who have not yet defused your bombs, I offer my hearty bad wishes. You will never defuse them before the deadline of Wednesday at 11:59pm! The cluster will be mine! Muahahahahahaha! 8ombz Rulze! Please make sure you follow all of this really bad advice to maximize your explosions: -=> Please run your bombs as many times as possible on machines not listed on the web page: http://www.cs.cmu.edu/afs/cs/academic/class/15213-f98/www/alpha.html I *love* it when you set off my tamper alert and blow yourself sky high! -=> Never find the function that causes the bomb to explode, and *never* set a breakpoint on it by typing "break funcname" into your gdb window. I want to see every mistake you make as a BOOM! -=> Please try redirecting input from a file into your bomb. It doesn't work correctly, and will always blow up your bomb. Yes! -=> If you skip phases with DDD's "set execution position", please remember to skip the initialize_bomb() function too. Doing this makes sure the bomb will never work right, and always blow up. Pow! -=> Your intesive bomb defusing course on Monday taught you to look at each problem both from the top down (forwards debugging, or single stepping), and from the bottom up (backwards debugging). This is good advice! Please ignore it, and you will help light the fuse to my doomsday machine! Kablooey! -=> Don't bother requesting a bomb until the last minute. Of course I will be sitting in my labratory all Wednesday evening just waiting to create a special bomb just for you! Unless I step out -- then you lose! Great! Thank you for creating all of those wonderful explosions!
