This is the README for Cacheprof 0.1, a profiling tool for finding sources of cache misses in programs. Cacheprof works only on x86 machines running Linux, although it shouldn't be hard to port it to other x86 Unixes. It doesn't require any kernel hacks or other similar magic. The entirety of the documentation for Cacheprof is in documentation.html. This explains what it's all about, shows an example of use, gives details of installation, use, limitations, and future directions. Cacheprof is licensed under the GNU General Public License, version 2. Julian Seward (jseward@acm.org) Cambridge, UK December 1999
