I completed my PhD from the Robotics Institute (RI), Carnegie Mellon University on August 2013. I worked with Christopher G. Atkeson on developing soft robots for safe physical interaction with humans. To this end, I have been interested in developing a new breed of robots which utilize highly flexible structures unlike most robots today. Such robots offer fundamental advantages in terms of safety thus bringing robots closer to humans than ever before.

Before RI

Before joining the RI, I was at the the Indian Institute of Science (I.I.Sc.) in the Dept. of Mechanical Engineering. At I.I.Sc., I worked with G. K. Ananthasuresh on topology optimization based synthesis of compliant mechanisms for MEMs applications.

My wonderful days as an undergrad at Manipal University shall never be forgotten! I graduated with a B.E. in Mechanical Engineering from Manipal University, India in 2006.
