Summary of Duties

Design, develop, and support a novel interface we have been developing as part of a project funded by ARPA's Human Computer Interaction Initiative. Pad++ is a zoomable graphical interface we are exploring as an alternative to traditional window and icon-based approaches to interface design. We are building the interface substrate and are developing applications based on this technology in areas as diverse as Web browsing, long-distance collaboration, and education for children. The successful candidtate for this position will be an essential part of our team, programming substrate and applications, evaluating software, working with students, and writing papers. Minimum Requirements

B.S. in Computer Science or related field and three years directly related experience, or a M.S. degree in Computer Science or related field and two years directly related experience.

Desired: Expert with C/C++ and Tcl/Tk. World-class programming abilities, interest in interface design, and ability to program with style, grace and speed. Experience with UNIX, programming X graphics, programming graphical computer interfaces, and graphic design. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Demonstrated ability to create aesthetic visual displays.
