Magazines can now be recycled along with the rest of the waste paper. Newspapers and phone books are also acceptable. Just place them in the blue paper recycling bins. **************************************************************** The Oakland Carnegie Library will take your magazines and resell them for a few cents (to benefit the library, perhaps?) Take them to "Andrew's Alcove" at the Oakland Carnegie Branch between 11:00 AM and 3:00 PM Monday through Saturday and volunteers will assist you. Right now, you can take your newspapers, glossy magazines, and catalogs to American Recycling, on 32nd street in the Strip District, near Allegheny Railroad. They have a big "roll-off" you put them in. Allegheny County is working on a program that should be finalized in about a month: - on set dates, you could go to any of 6 sites they are setting up, and recycle newspapers, glossy magazines, and catalogs. - the drop off dates/times will probably be Saturdays from 9-2. - they will need volunteers to man the drop off sites. Call Allegheny County at 355-5865 for the latest recycling info.
