Any mission requireing bandwidth > 10 MHz should go to ku-band Secondary band (Ku): 14 - 14.47 GHz 2 - 3 GHz ---------------------------------------------------- Dec 14, 94 (11:00 - 11:30 a.m.) - Left a message for Bob Taylor. He is out of town at this time and would be back on 19th Dec. - Left a message for Tom Gergely. He called back in few minutes. He is interested in far-side astronomy and hence our mission in not much important to him. He cannot help unless the mission in sunder direct control of US Govt. or one of its agencies. So we have to go through proper FCC channel and he suggested talking to Frank Wright. As such there are no bands available and we may need to work with other groups. Can call him again for any questions. - Left a message for Frank Wright. --------------------------------------------------- Dec 19, 94 Called Robert Taylor. - Will have to get through the FCC. - Talk to Mike Davis; he would have some suggestions - About the meeting: depends what Mike Davis thinks Called Mike Davis about 11:45; Talked for about 45 mts. He was very interested. Exchanged emails during the call to get in touch. He made a summary of the discussion and mailed itwithin few minutes of phone call. - Chairman of RF spectrum for scientific use: our mission (if we pose as scientific mission) definitely falls under his jurisdiction (we still need licence from FCC). - S-band may be challenging - get a broader audience; he never heard of the mission. Atleast be aware of the other audience. - Use existing facilities. Building and maintaining earth stations from scratch may be very costly. He was surprished that we are not using DSN. - Suggested that we attend the conference of URSI (International science and radio union (!!!). Though it is late for presenations, since he is the chairman of the society, can do something. I should mail him a package tomorrow. If he gets it before Jan 1, he can talk about it in the conference. -------------------------------------
