Perhaps we who *do* speak Esperanto should make a point of saying, on
first meeting anyone at all in any situation, "Hello, I speak Esperanto.
Mia nomo estas X Y." Personally, I *do* wear a colorful pin reading "I
(heart) ESPERANTO" [it's not "really" an Esperanto pin; there's no green
star on it ;-)]--but most people don't even notice it, and more than half
of those who do, to judge by their reactions, think it says "I (heart)
ESPRESSO"... Perhaps some of the people Roger has met whom he took to be
heavy coffee drinkers have actually been patriotic Esperantists... ;-)
