I applaud this success! I do not mean to belittle this accomplishment
when I say that a similar experience is commonly related about Esperanto.
I often receive letters written in perfect Esperanto just days after the
writer has first encountered the language, and indeed occassionally the
very next day..
I do not doubt that Interlingua, being a cleverly planned language, can
be quickly mastered by those with good preparation and aptitude.
Congratulations to the student and the project!
