I had long heard that Pimsleur language tapes were the be-all and
end-all of language learning( tapes ). When they finally began showing
up in the book stores here in Toronto with the usual French, Spanish,
Italian, etc I lamented the fact that they didn't have a Cantonese
version and likely never would. Imagine my surprize when I turned
into the isle with the Chinese books and my eyes fell on "Pimsleur
Cantonese"! I couldn't believe it. They didn't even have a Mandarin
version. At least not in stock, at any rate. Has anyone had a chance
to try it out? If not the Cantonese version, how would you rate the
Pimsleur courses that you have tried for other languages? I also
noticed that most of the other languages of Pimsleur tapes had two
editions, a beginner and an advanced. Has anyone seen an adanced
edition for Cantonese? Cantonese is a real up and coming language
here. The large demand for learning materials is finally being met
with several new books and tape courses. Every time I go into the
book store I find something new. This is as it should be. Believe
it or not, not every student of Chinese wants to learn Mandarin!
