The problem is that you sometimes reply to a message whose

Mor importantly, the blame is usually put on the shoulders 
of those who reply as opposed to those who initiate the post 
(i.e. the original message).  Finally, Why is crossposting  
such a terrible thing?.  Is it not enough to ignore a 
message whose content is not of particular interest to you!. 
Even in the same newsgroup there are often messages you may 
well not like and therefore have nothing to do with 
crossposting.
