I assume that this is in regard to the correction from "Romantic" to "Italic."

They are not the same, whether paired with another family or not. "Romance"
refers to the languages which descend from Vulgar Latin. "Italic" refers to a
group of languages, including Latin, spoken in the Italian peninsula until the
Roman Empire: Oscan, Umbrian, Faliscan, Venetic, Messapic, and so on. thus,
in a family-tree model, the Romance languages are a subset of Italic languages
but not co-extensive with the Italic languages.

Rich Alderson You know the sort of thing that you can find in any dictionary
of a strange language, and which so excites the amateur philo-
logists, itching to derive one tongue from another that they
know better: a word that is nearly the same in form and meaning
as the corresponding word in English, or Latin, or Hebrew, or
                what not.
