Well put. I think the Kingdom of Bohemia was a proud member of
Holy Roman Empire (especially in 1300s when the Czech king Charles IV
was crowned the H.R.Emperor). One could hardly call Bohemia a Germanic
state. :-)

BTW, Marek if you are refering to 1300s then another territory belonging
to the Crown of Bohemia at that time was Luxembourg, even farther
afield then Brandenburg.

Correct.  I was recently reading Charles IVth autobiography who was
brought up at the French Court. A lot of his writing was done in Czech
but most of his official writing was in Latin, though he could speak
and write perfect French, Czech, German, Luxembourghish and Italian.
