Um, pardon me? "All its speakers"? When 300 million EU
citizens are all happily reciting in Esperanto with happy
faces, will they all be aware of its "mediator role"?

I have used the present tense to indicate that I am referring to
its *current* speakers. Nevertheless, the argument would probably
remain valid as long as the majority of Esperanto speakers has
learned Esperanto as a foreign language, which will be true for
several generations at least.
