There has never been any statement in this thread, neither by
"Esperanto fans" nor by anyone else except you, that European
elections are not free or have only single candidates.

   Note also that Mr Hinsen carefully deleted the quote.   I'll restore
   it here, and you can judge for yourself whether it bears clarification.

   Now it *may* be that this is restricted to languages, but the author
