Subject: PowerPC 8 KHz Playback Options?

I just upgraded to a Mac PowerPC from a Quadra 700. I am doing
speech coding research and was using and Audiomedia board to
play back the speech at 8 KHz. Apparently it won't work in
the new machine.

Does anyone know any options for doing this on the PowerPC? There
is no built in playback option for 8 KHz. I might try to write one
myself ...but only if I *have* to. I am told the 16 bit sound on
the new Macs is good enough for speech work.

Can anyone give any advice on this?
