## Brian, I suggest there's a nuance here that you are missing, i.e.,
  somwhere between a lobotomy and "I, omnipotent God" there's an approach where
  I don't need to control or affect my world but can let it and its
  inhabitants be. Since you are obviously a "brass-tacks" sorta guy consider
  this: Can you "make" yourself have an erection? I don't mean can you
  masturbate but maybe in a situation where you were anxious and
  "couldn't get it up", i.e., "control" yourself (none the less the world).
  There's a scene in "Last Tango in Paris" where Brando & Schneider "try",
  "try real hard" to come.
