This is a cool concept when you compare consciousness and the ego to an FFT.

One of the operations of the ego is to limit our awareness (as I am loosly
defining ego here). Consciously, we only detect a fraction of what is going
on around us at any given moment in time; we "see what we want to see".

Consider that the measure of our awareness of our surroundings is
proportional to our ability to sample the present moment. And, that the
source of all of the illusion in our thinking is a result of us being inside
our heads instead of being in "reality". Any time we are thinking of the
past or the future we are not in the present moment and are in some form of
fantasy.

So, in other words, a symptom of being conscious is that you take limited
samples of you reality at any given moment. The less samples that you take,
the more illusions you percieve. I think it's the Buddhists who call the
illusion of life "maya".

Are fantasies from our subconscious a direct effect of only being able to
sample a portion of reality at a time with our consciousness? Maybe
fantasies consist of information created by form of aliasing of our reality
as percieved by our senses and our bodily feelings. I also think that all
information such as word flows in sentences has frequency content buried in
the information. Does anyone know if studies have been done in fourier
analyses of word content. I know some people may laugh at me for mentioning
this, but what about numerology, which looks at numeric relationships
between words and letters.

Is an enlightened person someone who no longer lives in the past or the
future, but lives in one eternal present? I suppose that you could think of
stupidity as the inverse of enlightenment.

I would greatly appreciate any responses from anyone who can make sense of
and/or has an opinion on this posting. Especially those who are into Jung
psychology. Please send email if possible as I have not been able to keep up
with the flow of news in this group.

	peace,
