I would recommend Dunfield Development Systems compiler. I have used the
68HC16 and the 68HC11 versions very successfully, but there are also versions
for most other micros. The compilers come with good documentation and
example programs and utilities.

The resultant code seems efficient and is easy to debug since human readable
versions of the libraries are included. It is also straightforward to
add assembly level code to the C code.

Pricing is very reasonable ( I believe about $99).

A satisfied user.
