What degree of realism are you looking for?  I wrote some code
which, given the 3d positions of the robot joints, will
build the robot geometry.  Unfortunately for you, the code is
in AutoLISP, runs only under AutoCAD, and is designed for a
custom manipulator.  But the basic ideas are not difficult, and
I can certainly send you a copy if you email me.
Nevertheless, the robot simulator in this case was geared toward
producing surface models -- is that what you're looking for?
