A good source for small solenoids is Shindengen Electric Mfg. Co.,
Ltd., RECRUIT Ikebukuro Bldg., 13-23, 1-chome Minami-Ikebukuro, Toshima-ku,
Tokyo 171, Japan. Fax (03)5931-8091. They have a US distributor, but I
don't have that address handy.

They have an open frame solenoid with a 24mm coil that runs on 12V,
type SK0624A06AA that might be what you want. They do custom work, as do
most of the solenoid vendors, if you order in quantity. These things
are cheap in volume.

Guardian makes solenoids in the US, and Newark stocks them, but you
said you had no success with the common parts distributors. Still,
look on p. 608-609 of the Newark catalog. A bit overpriced, though.
