I am looking for a +5VDC switcher regulator with the following
properties: input from 7-45VDC or greater, 1A minimum output, and the
need for a smallish inductor (e.g., 100uH) which requires a fairly
high switching frequency (e.g., 100kHz).

Parts of interest are the National/Semtech L2575-5 and L2576-5.
I am keen on your experiences and other potential switcher regulators.
According to the data sheets, these are supposed to be plug-and-play.
Tell me it's so?

thanks!
