Well, folks, we're finally trashing our old 100Hz Lord F/T sensors
and replacing them with something faster and better....but what??

All I've ever used at several different places is the Lord sensor.
What are your experiences with "modern" vendors? Are the ATI
(took over the Lord product line) sensors better than the old Lord
style? How 'bout JR3? They've been around for a long time, must be
doing something right. And waht about California Cybernetics? They're
cheap and *ooooh* come in different colors! But are they any good?

I'm specifically interested in a sensor that connects to the VME bus.
The old Lord arrangement is rather a hassle. And it should provide
resolved force/torque data for me at a reasonable rate (500 - 1000 Hz
minimum). Also, what about robustness? The old Lord sensors get
de-calibrated every time it gets a good whack. (Yes, I know, it
shouldn't happen, but...)

Any help on this topic would be greatly appreciated
