I recall a few years back just such a device intended for automated floppy disc
backups on a Macintosh computer. Since the Mac automatically ejects unwanted
diskettes, and automatically accepts newly inserted ones, all the device had to
do was completely remove the ejected disk from the slot, and slide another one
in its place. I don't think this device had any intelligence, though. It was
basically a device that held a stack of diskettes. When an ejected diskette hit
a sensor (near the diskette slot of the computer, it pulled it out and dropped
it on the table (?), then pushed in the next diskette from the stack. I don't
know who made it or if it's still around, but someone has tried this kind of
thing. If you can get your hands on one, you might be able to add some more
automation to it, and experiment a little easier. HTH!
