The Shadow Project, a bunch of fools with spare evenings, have been working
on this for a while. Almost-fully anthropomorphic, has been seen to walk
when attached to an overhead beam; we need to get balancing done yet.

There has been little work done on bipeds. Most interesting I saw was some
stuff that was done at Oxford in the engineering dep't in the late 60's and
early 70's, to provide prostheses for thalidomide children. Result: a neat
hydralic device. Without power, rocking from side to side moves it
forwards. With power, they had active standing (by stamping on the spot).
