With some of the talk around about simulating robots (both to reduce the
development costs, and to evaluate new or novel structures), I was wondering
which simulator people are using. Note I am talking about hobbiest/low-cost
type simulators, not high priced super-accurate dynamics packages for
professional development.

I have seen posts from a few people regarding home-brew simulators, but most
(if not all) of these require special routines from the OS and do not use
the standard X11 libraries available. I was wondering if anyone has either
developed a program, which is publicly available, which is portable across
OS/Hardware/Displays, or has ported one of the previously posted system to
use more standard graphics routines.
