No, you have to turn up the clock frequency as well.  Running an 8088/8 MHz at 
5 MHz should produce the same results as running an  8088/5 MHz at 5 MHz.  Did 
you change the timing crystal?  There are other things to consider as well, 
such as the possibility of different pinouts on the packages.
