Sears and Makita make some neat gearmotors and sell them packaged as 
cordless drill/drivers.  Lotsa power, readily available, and pretty
cheap as gearmotors go ($35-50).  I'm using two of each to drive my
Waldo (3 ft square, 115 pound) teloperated vehicle.
