If I may interject my 2 cents. :)

Ask yourself, "What is it about medicine that I hate?"  Computers are
now a part of every walk of life.  Medical expertise in a
software/hardware developer would be an asset to any project where
development of medical equipment is being done.  Even if it's just to
become a liason.  Before you take a big step, attempt to isolate which
aspect of a medical career you dislike.
