There ain't no such thing as a complete overview of classification
methods. You could start with the following:

   McLachlan, G.J. (1992) Discriminant Analysis and Statistical Pattern

   Learning, Neural and Statistical Classification, Ellis Horwood. 

   Ripley, B.D. (1996) Pattern Recognition and Neural
