Hello all,

I am currently looking at pursuing my PhD in CSE and have become fascinated with
Neural Nets, since I am taking an introductory class at the moment! I have some
questions that may seem simple to the brighter minds here, but hey, I have to
start somewhere!

First off, I see implementation (from a single processor point of view) of emulating
these networks with Vectors (Neuron Layers) and Matrices (Synaptic Interconnections)!
However, this works great if fully interconnected, is the approach similar when that
case is not true? What are some excellent books on learning more about Nets?

Does anybody work for a company out there, that is using these, say from a factory
standpoint (defect recognition)? What are some good NN packages for the PC/Windows
or even Unix based to use? Finally, is there an FAQ in this group and can I get
to Neural Network subjects on the WEB?

I hope my interest in this field continues, because working for a communications
company, I foresee a lot of applications in Signal Processing.

Thanks
