I am looking for references for NNs which uses other functions
than the standard sigmoid/sum-threshold.

I have been reading Karl Sims' papers on evolution of virtual
creatures, and am wondering if there has been any research into
the type of network he is using.

PS: The papers by Sims can be found at ftp://ftp.think.com/users/karl
