I am a computer science student in England and for my final year project I am
attempting to write an ANN simulator. This simulator will be aimed at
students studying neural nets and needs to be as adaptable as possible. I
have two requests regarding this project that I would appreciate help on:

1). A basic grounding on Neural Networks (I have NO experience with ANN's
apart from one Article about Adaline's and Madaline's and would appreciate
any introductary information about ANN's and models associated with them.

2). Any hints / tips / advice on the implementation of ANN's. I have a solid
grounding in programming (I work as a freelance programmer as well as going
to University - so that isn't a problem) but I admit that where neural
network implemetations are concerned many people may be able to offer
advice on the best way to go about it.

Now to give you some more information of the project:

The simulator will have a graphical front end to make it's use as simple as
possible. From here you will be able to enter vectors, weights, train, run etc.
the selected network model. This front end will, therefore, have to be as
generic as possible. I aim to include a large range of neural nets (how many
depends upon the time I have to do the project - it should be about 500 hours
work). And also it should be possible to add new nets (whether this will have to
be a programming job or an end user job is debatable at present).

Any information that could possibly help me would be very much appreciated (I
know this is all a bit vauge but so are my ideas at the moment).

Please either e-mail me or post to the newsgroup.
