           GENETIC ALGORITHMS AND SIMULATED ANNEALING,

                    Revised Call For Papers

The Pitman Series of Research Notes in Artificial Intelligence
(Derek Sleeman and N.S. Sridharan, Senior Editors) will publish a
volume of papers entitled "Genetic Algorithms and Simulated
Annealing" early in 1987. The volume will be edited by David
Davis of Bolt Beranek and Newman and will be refereed by experts
in the fields of genetic algorithms and simulated annealing.

The original deadline of September 30 has been extended to
Nov. 30 by popular demand. Only Papers received by that date
will be considered for inclusion. Papers should be no more than 20
pages in length, should be primarily concerned with one or both
of the two fields of research, and should conform to accepted
editorial standards. In order to submit a paper, mail four
copies to

	(Lawrence) David Davis
	BBN Laboratories Incorporated
	10 Moulton Street
	Cambridge, MA 02238.

For further information, contact David Davis at (617) 497-3120,
or send electronic mail to ddavis@bbng.

I'm pleased to announce that a lot of progress has been made
toward organizing the GA Conference for next year. We have obtained
sponsorship from AAAI and the Navy AI Center. Other sponsors are
still being pursued. The main purpose of this note is just to
encourage you to start thinking about possible submissions.
I hope to see the same high level of quality and diversity that we saw
last year. Here's an updated Call for papers. Please post this
where your interested colleagues might see it.

2nd International Conference on Genetic Algorithms
                        and Their Applications

The 2nd International Conference on Genetic Algorithms and
Their Applications, sponsored by AAAI and the U.S. Navy
Center for Applied Research in AI (NCARAI), will be held on
July 28-31, 1987 in Cambridge, Mass. Authors are invited to

including: foundations of genetic algorithms, machine
learning using genetic algorithms, classifier systems,
apportionment of credit algorithms, relationships to other
search and learning paradigms. Papers discussing specific
applications (e.g., OR, engineering, science, etc.) are
     encouraged.

Authors are requested to send three copies (hard copy only)
of a full paper by April 1, 1987 to the program chair:
