is looking for a
Graduate Research Assistant (PhD student)
to participate in a project on

"SITUATED DESIGN"

Topic area: development of IT for work place design employing the
metaphor of the user 
as a "situated agent". 
 
The successful candidate is expected to

- have an interest in some (more than one) of the following areas:
    information technology (software engineering, human computer
interaction, 
    CSCW/Groupware)
    cognitive sciences, artificial intelligence, philosophy of mind
    work psychology
    ethnomethodology 
    research on communication
    interaction between information technology and organization
    or related fields

- understand German (willingness to improve proficiency is expected)
- stay at least for one year (preferably two years) 
- do practical work on industrial projects
- enjoy working in an interdisciplinary group
