Quite.  Anno is not quite right in claiming that the presence of the
glottal stop is the *only* difference, except perhaps in certain dialects
such as those of the South where the 'r' is rolled.  In my dialect there
is no 'r' sound in the "ver" in either word, so the difference is that
one (verreisen) has an 'r' sound *instead of* the glottal stop in the
other (vereisen).  I'd sometimes pronounce the "ver" as "fo" in both
cases, using a short 'o' as in the first letter of "octothorpe", and
sometimes as noted by Erland above.
