If you mean Smalltalk-80 Version 2.4 (which I never saw - moved from 2.3
to 2.5 directly) then I'd call this early.

You're right, it was mature then - and ahead. I was proud then when I
said Smalltalk's one of the best development environment around, and I
knew I wasn't lying. ;-)
