Speaking personally I find the arguments between C++ and 
Smalltalk as largely irrelevant as the key points about OOP are that
the methodology encourages re-use of code and that the 
implementation details are less important than the quality
of the object libraries.  You pay for the width breadth and quality
of the class libraries and Smalltalk is 15(ish) years ahead of C++ 
in that respect and I can't see that the huge institutional stampede 
to C++ will change that as it unsdisciplined and undirected in 
exactly the way that Smalltalk isn't. (Rant mode off)
