 gimme Mick.

: look, I am intimately familiar with the Mac and its inner workings. I can
: bang out toolbox calls with the best of them. But toolboxes, while a great
: idea in 1984, just don't cut the mustard in 1994. What we need here is a

: asking yourself, "Isn't that Smalltalk?". Well it is to a certain extent.

Certainly more than Linux/Unix.

: But I like to do things like build computer controlled telephone answering
: machines, so I have to worry about anything that gets in between my
: hardware A/Ds and my Smalltalk code.

Strange hobby. Why don't you run NextStep?

: And the MacOS gets in my way. MacOS is old and needs a major overhaul. But
: Apple isn't going to do that, so I am not going to buy a Mac. At least

Yep, Mozart, Copland and Gershwin don't really exist.

: with an x86 if I don't like the operating system that came with the

: thing about Linux is that I can run it and have the source code too.... :)

Well the source code is one thing I like about smalltalk. But OTOH -
I direct your attention to the Unix-Haters Handbook. :-)
Now if you could just get that Pentium to perform division correctly...

: grrrrrrrr.

Hey, I just got my DR2 free upgrade with the new integrated help system
and the killer thread debugger!
Its even cooler now! Wait until in goes native in Q1 95 for my power
mac! It'll sure scream then!
Heh.
:-)

To paraphrase someone else's quote:
If you want to do computing at home, buy a PC.
If you need to get some work done, get a Mac.
