This project, based at School's Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, involves the development and evaluation of knowledge discovery tools (based on inductive logic programming) for databases. Duties will involve all aspects of the project: design and analysis of knowledge discovery tools, planning and running experiments, analysing results, assisting in the preparation of papers, and taking part in discussions and seminars. Applicants must have recently completed a PhD in Computer Science (preferably with specialization and publications in Machine Learning), and will be required to have excellent C and Prolog programming skills. Good communication skills, both written and oral and a knowledge and understanding of EEO/AA principles are required. Familiarity with concepts and techniques of Logic Programming and Deductive Databases is desirable. The appointment is initially for a period of 12 months with further renewal up to three years, dependent on funding.
