Initial projects will include graphical user interface programming for the user interface to a knowledge base of biochemical pathways, and to a graphical knowledge base editor. Candidates should have knowledge of or experience in several of the following areas: Common Lisp programming, the Common Lisp Interface Manager (CLIM), knowledge representation, biochemistry, molecular biology. Degree requirements are a bachelors or masters degree in computer science; an additional degree in the life sciences would be a strong plus. Additional skills of interest include AI automated reasoning techniques, C and C++ programming, Oracle relational DBMS, Unix, and experience with military applications. Our group performs research on extending the capabilities of knowledge representation systems, with significant efforts focused on implementation of the resulting ideas. We are also developing knowledge bases for biochemistry and molecular biology. This position may become available in 4-6 weeks.
