I agree totally.  _Mobile Robots_ is an excellent book and it does go 
into the details of what is going on underneath so anyone with a basic 
understanding of electronics should be able to get it.  If you want to do 
Rug Warrier try reading Fred Martin's  intro to the 68HC11 micro posted 
on cher.  Its good and complete.  The manual fo rthe 6.270 course is also 
there and it details some good basics for robot work too.
