Ok, i know the beasts exist, but i need some insight on which is better.

First, there's smallC. I've heard it pretty much sucks, but never from
a reliable source who tried it. Anyone out there use it? Like it?

Next there's the Dunfield compiler. Has one disadvantage: it costs $100.
Is it worth it? I'll pay if it's that good, but i'm gonna have to know
before hand...

Next is the gnu cross compiler (written by coactive, inc). I have a 486,
but i don't have any experience getting gnu apps or compilers to work on
it. If this is relatively simple and the compiler works well, then ok.

What else is out there? Anyone got any good ideas? I don't mind assembly
for some things, but for major developement, it sucks....
