Funk and Wagnalls.  Or Merriam and Webster, or the highly-educated staff
of the American Heritage and the Oxford English Dictionaries.  Or the
staff of Compton's, Encyclopaeidae Brittanica et Americana, Grollier's...

(The answer, btw, is "yes", though I wouldn't recommend taking as gospel
truth a response culled from the Usenet without confirmation from a
reputable reference work.)
