In a previous article, corr.rob@pi.net ("Rob van der Wildt") says:

>1 Is the title of a well-known story correctly spelled, including the
>capitals:
> "For whom the Bell Tolls" ?

All *except* for the capitals, yes. There are two schools of capitalization
competing in American English. According to one, which was dominant when
this book came out and thus probably historically correct, you need to
capitalize "Whom". According to the other school, which seems to me to
be in the ascendancy, the title should read "For whom the bell tolls",
but this is probably an anachronism.

> And who is the author?

Ernest Hemingway (1899-1961)

>2 Is the title of a T.S. Eliot essay spelled corectly:
                                               ^^^
Haven't had a chance to research this one, but ^^^ "corRectly".

>3 Is "The Three Princes of Serendib" by Horace Walpole still currently for
> sale in bookshops?

There's no such title listed in the current edition of _Books in Print_,
so for practical purposes the answer is probably "No", though of course
if you count the used-bookstores the answer may well be "Yes". And there
*is* a multi-volume edition of Walpole's _Works_, but it is listed at
over a thousand dollars, so there probably aren't many bookshops that
have bothered to invest in a copy on spec!
