Which is a good example for a self-fulfilling prophecy...

BTW, Dr. Zamenhof (the inventor of Esperanto) was already aware of the
problem of overcoming this attitude. In his first publication on
Esperanto (a thin booklet containing a grammar, the basic word list,
and some example texts), he asked the readers to sign and mail back to
him the promise to learn Esperanto as soon as it was shown that
at least a million other readers had made the same promise.
Unfortunately, I don't know how many such promises he actually
received.
