While reading the "Faces of the Enemy" by Sam Keen, I found
the perfect summary of the arguments used by both sides in this
thread. Except their basic theological differences, the
fundamentalist atheists and evangelical Christians share the
same ideology which is summarized below. In the below table,
"US" can represent either atheists' or Christians' view about
themselves and the "THEM" represents their opinion of the
other side.

US THEM
We are innocent. They are Guilty.
We tell the truth, They lie,
-inform. -use propoganda
We defend ourselves. They are agressors.
We are smart, They are stupid,
-know the truth. -know nothing, falsehoods.

Beneath these arguments there is sort of an
undertone of self-justification of all such
debates which is the whining voice of the
child saying "He did to me first"; "I only
hit him back." or "He's the the evil one
who slandering me, I am just defending the
reputation of me and my faith. ("Faith" is
meant to cover Christianity, atheisim,
whatever.)

The above scenerio accurately depicts about
99 percent of the so-called "debates" on
talk.abortion.
