Really? I am not trying to be facetious, but my impression is that both
of them are being ignored for the most part. I suppose Searle's Chinese
room is probably still good for undergraduate papers and a few articles
in the popular press, but he doesn't seem to have the sort of impact [say]
Fodor has, and I thought Penrose has been getting the same reaction great
actors and actresses get when they decide to sing; A few admirers listen,
applaud and exclaim how great a performance it was, while everyone else
groans. :-]
