I am working on a project and we've been given a series of expert system
shells/environments to research. I haven't heard of most and what I've
heard of others isn't that good. What we'll need to do is have a rule-
based component of a conventional information system. The rules will
examine data entry transactions to test for acceptability based upon
how the data should look, etc. Can anyone help me please to under-
stand how any/all of these tools might help and which is best or worst
for this sort of task? Thanks in advance.

GoldWorks III for Windows (V.2.1.) [I thought GoldHill had gone Chapter
   11 and was outta business]
CubiCalc (V.2.0) from HyperLogic Corp.
Mentor for Windows from ICARUS Corp.
Eclipse for Windows from the Haley Enterprise, Inc.
EZ-Xpert (V.1.1.) from TRIMMer Software Corp.

I assume most/all of the above run on PC's but I think I will need to do
some/all of the processing for acceptance/rejection on a mainframe (IBM).
I would also like to try and get product literature and perhaps reviews
and/or comparisons of these products done by objective third parties (e.g.,
_AI Expert_ or such). Does anyone know of such reviews or of web sites
where these can be researched? Might any or all of these tools have
been discussed in one of the FAQs for this newsgroup even? I will
appreciate any and all help. Thanks in advance.

Cheers!
:-)Umar
