Monolith server upgrade

As part of its Aug 07 upgrade, the server Monolith received a new IP address. While most users should notice no changes, if you have drives mapped to Monolith's shared network-resources (such as printers) or make wireless or remote connections using the server's IP address , you will need to reconfigure them. For these and all similar connections, we strongly recommend using the server's fully-qualified domain name, "MONOLITH.SRV.CS.CMU.EDU ." This practice will avoid complications from any future address changes.

Accessing shared network-resources

map drive To map a Windows drive to a shared resource, go to:
"My Computer" > "Map Network Drive"

Confirm your settings as follows:

  • PC_DIST mapped For the SCS Windows-software share: "\\monolith.srv.cs.cmu.edu\PC_DIST"
  • Slate added For a network printer, such as Slate: "\\monolith.srv.cs.cmu.edu\slate"
Please contact the SCS HelpDesk, <help+@cs.cmu.edu> or x8-4231, with any questions or concerns regarding this upgrade.
