The SCS network employs a high-availability campus infrastructure, leveraging a dual-core design with multiple, redundant 10Gb uplinks the campus network. Newell-Simon Hall, Gates-Hillman Centers, and segments of Wean Hall have 10Gb uplinks to the SCS core routers. Every end-host connection is 10/100/1000Mbps capable.
There is no firewall between the SCS network and the rest of the world.

Our Internet connection
SCS has multiple 10Gb uplinks to the Carnegie Mellon campus network. CMU has a 10Gb link to Internet2 and other research networks via 3ROX, and dual 400Mb links (via Sprint and Level3) to the commodity internet.
